Capgemini SE is a French multinational IT company offering consultancy, technology, professional and outsourcing services. It has its head office in Paris, France. Cognizant started as Dun & Bradstreet Satyam Software (DBSS), founded as

customers outside Dun & Bradstreet in 1996.
In 1996, several of its subsidiaries, including
Erisco, IMS International, Nielsen Media Research, Pilot Software, Strategic
Technologies and DBSS, were spun off by Dun & Bradstreet to create a new
firm, Cognizant Corporation, based in Chennai, India. Three months later, DBSS
changed its name to Cognizant Technology Solutions in 1997. In July 1997, for
$3.4 million, Dun & Bradstreet bought Satyam 's 24 percent interest in
DBSS. Headquarters were transferred to the United States, and Kumar Mahadeva
was appointed CEO in March 1998. The group, functioning as a subsidiary of the
